One of the things we love most about jiu-jitsu is that you meet so many great people from different backgrounds. Even in your own gym, there is probably a good mix of people: women and men, children and adults, plumbers, doctors, lawyers, and maybe even a few that are able to train jiu-jitsu full time. It's one of the things that makes martial arts great.
We were recently fortunate enough to meet Nancy and Yara Helmy, two sisters who train at South Jersey Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in Berlin, NJ under Professor Steven Bongiorno. They are dedicated students and have some very interesting insight about training as young women dedicated to their religion, each other, and their team.
